Regain Control
Why do I keep chasing losses?
A loss can make the next decision feel like it has a job to do. Instead of asking, “Is this next bet a good decision?” the mind can start asking, “How do I get back what I lost?” That shift matters. You may notice thoughts like: “I can get it back.” “One more bet fixes this.” “I can’t stop while I’m down.” “I just need to get even.” The previous loss and the next decision are not the same thing. What already happened cannot be changed by the next wager. The next bet only creates a new decision, with a new risk.
What can help
Create some distance between the two questions: “What already happened?” Then: “What am I deciding now?” That separation can reduce the feeling that the next bet has to repair the last one.
